Who is Madame George?

Dedicated to creating the freshest, most high quality beverage in Madame George, the bar team creates infusions, elixirs and bitters in-house and juices all ingredients daily.

The mission at Madame George is to create an all encompassing experience to evoke multiple senses of their guests with eye catching presentation and aromatics to create a new way to experience the city that never sleeps.

Interior

Since the release of Van Morrison’s beguiling, deeply atmospheric 1968 masterpiece, “Madame George,” the song’s protagonist has inspired fascination. Who was Madame George, exactly? The song drops hints of a vision in clicking high-heeled shoes, wreathed in heady perfume, gazing at her admirers, But her identity remains an alluring mystery. She’s an apt inspiration for this sultry, visually stunning subterranean cocktail bar. Like Van Morrison’s muse, the space defies easy categorization – but thoroughly seduces.

Though filled with individual pieces that nod to particular places and time periods, the ingenious commingling of these elements manages to create something completely new. A place vaguely nostalgic, yet original; comforting, yet provocative – and like its namesake muse, a captivating mystery.

The main room is a whimsical confluence of modern, geometric patterned tile floors layered with hand-loomed Afghan rugs; opulent ceiling panels of parrot-green crushed velvet; and walls covered in rich silk damask decked with vintage statues, swagged garlands of ivy and Victorian dried flowers, and an eclectic collection of framed artworks. Bespoke banquettes and cozy armchairs in jewel-toned velvet invite gathering over quality cocktails and sharable bites, all set to a backdrop of classic hip-hop and R&B. The bar, meanwhile, evokes an elegant hall of mirrors, with pressed tin ceilings and antique patterned glass that reflects light from vintage Edison bulbs and crystal sconces.

Let our amicable staff and expert bar team transport you back to a much forgotten era where great service, cocktails, and good times were king.
